I know this sounds like a weird question to ask, but I wanted to get someone else’s opinion on this. So I’m going to be honest here, my own skin color is more of a pale color. So I have a tendency to “white wash” most of characters because I’m white (not because I don’t respect other cultures, it’s that I’m nervous that I won’t represent those cultures correctly and someone will get offended). So I decided to ask you guys what you think about me changing Maya’s skin color to be darker. Her village is around the same place that the swamp is (4th episode from book 2), So I think technically her skin would be a little darker because she is out in the sun more often. But again, I want your guys opinion on it. So what do you think?
