The leaves crunched under the girl's feet as she ran. She held up her dress so she didn’t trip. She turned a sharp corner, and looked behind her.
“Get back here!” A guard yelled. She ignored him and kept on running.
The girl ran for about an hour and a half before the guards lost sight of her. She didn’t know where she was, she didn’t recognize this part of the forest.
The trees were thick, it was almost sunset, and the birds were chirping. The blonde kneeled down against a tree, and slid her back down to sit on the ground. She knew she couldn’t go back to the kingdom, or else she would be hanged.
The hazel eyed girl put the hood on her black cloak down, and moved the long itchy sleeve out of the way. She held her hand in a fist, and then did a small flicking motion with her fingers. A small purple ball of light came from her hand. She smiled. The girl heard a sound coming from the left, she quickly put on the hood, and turned towards the sound, only to see a little boy.
The boy had dirty blonde hair and creame coloured skin. His left eye was blue, and his right was brown. He looked like he was about 10 years old. He was carrying small sticks in his arms.
“Hello!” The boy said, walking closer to the girl. “I’m Levi! What’s your name?”
The blonde backed away a little bit, not answering Levi’s question.
The young boy tilted his head. Until he heard someone calling his name from a distance.
“Levi!” A man called.
The calling got louder until the man finally found the boy. The two looked similar. Both blonde, and had a similar face shape. The man had two emerald green eyes, and small, barely noticeable freckles scattered on his face.
“Levi, what did we say about talking to strangers?” The man said.
“... not to.” Levi said, looking down at his feet.
“And what did we say about running off like that? You scared me!” The green eyed man scolded.
“I’m sorry, Evan.” Levi said.
The man sighed. “It’s okay Levi, just stick with me next time.”
The blonde haired girl tried to try and silently walk away.
But Evan stopped her. “I’m sorry about him, you know how kids can be.”
She nodded.
“I’m Evan.” He said, sticking his hand out for her to shake it.
The girl stood there, not replying.
“You don’t talk much, huh?” Levi said. “Do you need somewhere to stay?” Levi asked. “It’s almost dark!”
Evan looked at the girl. “We live not far from here, if you do. You’re welcome to stay with us. It’s a far walk back to the nearest town.”
The blonde girl stood there, thinking. Deciding if she should go or stay.
