Dark Magic

Spells can be performed by anyone who is a witch/sorceresses, as well as anyone who has access to a powerful spellbook. However, the ability to cast spells depends on your power level. Even if you are a witch by blood, and even if you have the most powerful spellbook, you will not be able to cast powerful spells on your own without knowledge.

The most powerful spells are written in Cursed Gibberish, a magical language.

To understand Cursed Gibberish, you have to be level thirty-eight sorceress. The only sorceresses who are fluent in Cursed Gibberish are Baba Yaga and the Evil Queen. Nobody else in all of Ever After had reached higher than level thirty-one.

The Evil Queen is a level forty-two sorceress.

Raven Queen is a level five sorceress.

There’s a rule in dark sorcery which states that upper-level knowledge can’t be downshared.
