Marionette clay puppet gift🖌

I am so so pleased to announce that the gift I have made for my friend is finished, it is a marionette clay puppet of her sergal! I will finally be able to list these on my official commission wiki and carrd. I’m so excited!

Materials used:

Crayons Air-Dry clay, acrylic paint, mod podge to seal it, jewelry eye pins, jewelry chain, and clear plastic thread

I’ve had a hard time putting this all together, but the final result is SO worth it!! I’ve always loved the stop motion animation movies, animation with puppets/movies with really neat props and backgrounds that take effort, which lead me to one night say to myself ‘how hard could this be?’ 🥲 Oh my goodness was I in for it🤣 I’ve previously participated in extra curricular clubs in school where you choose a prompt with certain rules, create a script, costumes, and also your own set/props. I’ve never made a marionette puppet before, and it was a bit difficult to plan everything out because of that, but the hardest part was attaching the thread. My cats kept trying to ‘free her’ but thankfully I was able to reattach all of the broken pieces.

My absolute FAVORITE detail is the paw pads and claws on the hands, they were so small, I was worried I wouldn’t be able to fit them on!!

Problems I still have with her:

-Her whole head is sideways (likely from the double chain instead of single)

-her paw keeps flipping backwards (likely because of assembly🤔)

-mobility is limited because of the type of marionette handle I’ve made
