Hello everyone, this is #medicteam, and I am here to talk about tips to get better sleep and the benefits that having a good night's rest has. I'm sure a lot of us don't have the best sleep schedules, and I have experienced that myself and fixing your sleep schedule can be hard, but with time and effort, you can get some good rest! A small disclaimer that I will add is that not everything works for everyone, so I am using tips that I've learned works with the majority of people. However, I do recommend trying these things if you haven't yet, as it might work for you.

★⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Why is a full night's rest important?
A full night's rest is important because it can help improve what you do throughout the day, such as school, work, activities, and everything that requires your mind and body to work efficiently. A full night's sleep can also improve your mood, improve your focus, strengthen your immune system, and lessen stress levels that you might be having.
Sleep is very important for your body, and without it, it can be harmful. Lack of sleep can cause you to work less efficiently with any activity throughout the day, make you irritable, or in some cases, hallucinate when you've gone too long without sleep in general. Sleeping too much is also bad for you, and it can make you even more tired and want to sleep more, so it is always good to have a regular sleep schedule to prevent sleeping too much or sleeping too little.

If you are having trouble sleeping at night, there are some ways that might help you be able to fall asleep!
Please keep in mind that these tips will not automatically fix your sleep schedule right away. You need to be consistent with it to fix it, and it may take a while to fully fix your sleep schedule.
• Tea / Warm drinks
There are specific teas that can help you sleep at night, but you need to be careful about which one you pick! Certain kinds of tea can keep you awake due to caffeine. A tea that is recommended to help someone sleep would be chamomile tea. Warm drinks are also helpful, but just like tea, you need to be careful about what kind you drink since some can keep up awake. A good recommendation is warm milk.
• Put away any devices you have
The light from any devices you may have, like your phone or laptop, can keep you awake even longer, not only because you might want to be online more, but also due to how the light affects the brain and tricks you into staying awake. It is advised to stay off of any electronics for at least 20 minutes or up to an hour before going to bed.
• ASMR / Background noise
Some people might not be able to sleep in complete silence, and if you're one of those people, then sometimes, a bit of background noise can help you sleep. The background noise can vary from different things such as the sound of rain, a fan blowing in the background, or even ASMR if that works best for you.
• Melatonin (If recommended by a doctor)
Keep in mind that this one should only be used if recommended by a doctor since too much can be harmful! Melatonin supplements can help someone fall asleep since it increases the hormone that helps you sleep and makes you tired. Again, it is advised that you only take it if it's recommended by your doctor.
