Warning! This story will contain dramatized depictions of what it is like going through a very strong tornado, and contains the following!

∆Fear

∆Panic

∆Violent depictions of severe weather/natural disasters

If the content that follows may trigger you please do not read!

Hello everyone! This is an idea I came up with recently that I have worked on for several days. Recently I've been watching a lot of documentaries on tornadoes and their effects, so I was inspired to write this story. Of course I'm a very lovey person so this will contain some romance, but the main and #1 plot point of this story will be natural disasters. Why? Because I can lol. Enjoy! <3

Characters Used:

Theodosia The Smol

Also! As a note, a while back I changed Theodosia from a human to a guardian angel. She's in the middle of a big revamp right now, so please keep that in mind!

∆WIP Male OC(for now, we'll refer to him as Leo)

FYI, she is canonically single as can be, but for this one I didn't want to use someone else's OC in case I couldn't depict them correctly, so this is the only time these two will be in a story together, if at all. ^^

Theo was going about her day as usual, shopping for groceries for she and her beloved, Leo. Leonardo, or as she called him, her lion(get it? Astrology joke lol) had been asking for new books, so she decided today was a good day to do it. She was looking for new books to put on their shelves to read, going through each category and taking her time. The day was clouded and dreary outside, so it had affected her mood a bit. She felt much more drowsy and sleepy than usual, but it was probably the humidity and weather, normal feelings. Leo was at work across town, enjoying his newest job as a radio personality. She loved tuning in just to hear his lovely voice(almost seems like he was made for that *dun dun dun* XD) and his even lovelier personality. He was always so lively and charming, but what won her over was what an absolute gentleman he was. Always holding the door for her, offering her his coat when it was cold, pulling out and pushing in her chair for her. Such charm. She was so busy caught up in her thoughts that she didn't hear the commotion going on around her-

S i r e n s

The shock and panic washed over her in that moment and she instinctively dropped the book she was holding to the ground. It hit with a loud smack on the floor, and as she looked around, people were as confused as she was. One of the store managers came up to the group and got everyone's attention by whistling. "Everyone! Please head to the back storage room, this is not a siren drill, there was apparently a tornado spotted just outside of town. Please immediately head back and get in a sheltered area!"

Theodosia could feel her heart stop, and she went pale white. She grabbed her purse and personal items and ran among the others in the group to the back storage room. There was a child with his family that was as scared as she was, and she could hear the boy crying in fear when she got to the area with the family. "M-Mommy, I'm s-scared!" The boys mother tried to console him but to no avail. Not that Theo could blame him, poor kid probably didn't understand much of what was going on. He looked no older than maybe 6 or 7. Theo interrupted the scene, asking, "Ma'am, are you and your family alright?" The woman nodded and held her husband's hand. The boy clung to his mother's leg, and Theo kneeled down to his height, as he cowered away. "Little boy, please. Don't be frightened. I understand you're scared. I'm scared too. But I will not allow anything to happen to you or your parents, okay? You are safe now. There's.." She gulped, trying to not show how worried she was. "There's going to be a lot of noise, and it will get really scary here, but you just stay close and hold on to your mommy. Can you do that?" The little boy sniffled and nodded, shaking slightly.

That's when she heard it. The sound of breaking glass just outside the barricaded door. The front of the store had to have shattered in the force of the winds, she knew it. Theo gathered the family close and spread her wings to cover them. She wouldn't let anything happen to the boy or his family. Thankfully, it was a small store surrounded by an open field and trees, though the trees may cause issues if it got too bad. In the store at that moment was her, the family, and the manager, as well as two other people who found a safe spot in the storage room. She was glad they'd be okay, and she focused on keeping the boy and his family safe. The roaring of the wind outside was thunderous, nearly rocking the room when the thunder claps hit every so often. The air felt thick with moisture, and it became hard to breathe. All around them came sounds of crashing shelves and stock items, creaks and groans from the steel and metal bending at the force of the wind.

The torrential rain pounding on the once clean floors as the walls caved in. Theodosia reacted as fast as she could, and she winced as she felt bricks hit her back. Thankfully it was only a few that gave out, and she sighed with relief when there were no more creaks or groans. Suddenly it went pitch black, and the boy screamed in fear. Theo shushed him quietly and rubbed his back before a deafening sound came roaring up from the building surrounding them. Wood snapping, metal bending and breaking apart. Doors swinging open and smashing into the walls. Everything was so loud, it was almost painful. She covered her ears and saw the young man do the same, as well as his parents. The walls were almost collapsing, and the rain began to pour through. The room was dark and moist, and it felt like the noise would never stop. All the breaking of the structure, the insulation dropping down and bulging awkwardly from the ceiling. And just when it felt like it would never end..

It was over.

Theodosia, alongside the others, stumbled over spilled stock items and shakily walked outside. What they saw nearly brought Theo to her knees..

Nothing

No buildings.. just.. rubble. Shards of glass, broken.. and wood snapped like a toothpick. Steel beams that once held the building now reduced to bent and misshapen scrap, filthy from the dirt and mud the tornado flung around. The only thing that remained of the store was the linoleum flooring, soaked with rain and covered in the same filth that littered the beams, and.. the storage room. Theo looked back at it in shock, thankful that those around her were alright. Then, Theo heard the little boy begin to cry in fright. She didn't blame him, coming out to see such a scene. Horrifying. She hugged him and rubbed his back. "There there.. shh.. it's over now. You're safe." And, after a few minutes, he fell asleep. She handed the boy back to her mother and booked it across town as fast as she could. She would've flown but she could feel one of her wings was hurt, so she just ran. She ran out of breath after a few minutes and stopped at a downed tree to breathe.

That's when she finally looked around her. The neighborhood around her, it was the one only a couple blocks away from her own home. The street was littered with debris, trees flung over like they were nothing. Houses, if you could call them that now, smashed and obliterated. Broken pictures laid face first on the ground, the glass that once held them snugly now scattered at random. The sun may have come out, but if only now to make light of the horrors surrounding her. She heard people calling for help, but she only had one thing on her mind.

Leo.

She needed to find her baby, to make sure he was alright. She began to run to her house, dodging downed power lines and trees laying in the street. She wanted to know he had survived. She needed him to have survived. Her heart ached and tears came to her eyes as she finally approached her street. As she came up, she breathed a sigh of relief at the sight of her own home, along with the other half of the neighborhood, was safe. Then she bit her lip and gulped.

Guilt welled up in her stomach. Her home may be safe, but at what cost. Whose homes were smashed by this disaster, whose the one who had to pay for her home to be alright. She shook her head to dislodge those thoughts and once she caught her breath, she happened to look down. Right there, laying on the concrete at her feet, soaked and dirty.. was the book. The book she had accidentally dropped as she was looking at it. She couldn't believe it. It had to have flown across the town(not that it was far at all) and landed here. The words inside were now illegible, but she held it tight and looked all around. Her voice ed the chorus of others yelling in the street. But hers were not cries of help, hers was a cry of fear. "Leo! Leo where are you?!" She began to grow fearful, until she heard it, and the voice clicked in her mind. That voice..

"Theodosia! Theo baby! Where are you?!"

She was almost moved to tears, and she managed to yell back. "Leo! Leo I'm over here! I'm coming for you!" She jogged in the direction of his voice, before she stopped in her tracks. There he was. He had his back to her, and he looked like he was soaking wet. Covering his back was mud, seeping through the rips and tears in his jacket. "Leo! Mi amor!" Leo turned around and his eyes got big, wet with tears. "Theodosia!" "Leo!" They ran for one another, and collided in a ionate hug. "Oh Leo. Oh my baby.. my sweet love." She cried from relief at knowing her darling was alright. "Leo.. what happened? How do you find your way back?" Leo smiled at her and wiped her tears. "I had to make sure you were okay. I'm so happy to see you." She nodded, and he rubbed her back.

Then.. reality set in. The people around them were yelling for help, yelling for someone to step up. So many others were coming to those in need for aid in their time of need, and she nodded at Leo. They had to help. They needed to. And with that, they helped as many as they could to escape the rubble and reunite with family. They offered their extra room and their couch to those in need of shelter. They consoled those who had lost oh so much in this disaster, and they didn't care what they risked. They had each other, they had their home, and they had the book as a reminder of what happened.

Oh, and if you're wondering what the book was called? It was "The Wizard of Oz" ;)
