Follows some of the customs of the Siku, the civilization she’s apart of on the planet. It’s also the branch that has a unique power; the power to manipulate solid materials, which is treasured in Derutan society and makes them advance in their jobs easier. It is a protected secret among the Siku, and Malina keeps her powers hidden just like the rest, only using them in subtle ways just to make it seem like she’s very good at what she does.

Malina grew up on Derutan, a bland planet covered in factories, but it is also ahead when it comes to technology. Most people are advanced when it comes to tech, and her parents were no exception. Her father was a demolition man and her mother was working as an engineer who worked with buildings and the advancement of structures. Even at a young age, Mal was like everyone else and was instantly obsessed with the magical world of technology. Even though many look down on the planet for it’s cramped state of living, she was a happy kid who never wanted to leave.

𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐬

Derutan’s make citizens choose a track to study early - with Mal, she decided to follow after her father and become a demolitions expert. She was a quick learner, and was advanced for her age. Unfortunately, when she was 13, her mom struck tragedy and died on the job. It was unexpected - a hospital she was working in ended up exploding. It was a targeted attack, but one that never ended with justice for her and her father. It changed them both, but Alaric did his best to raise Malina how his wife wanted him to. She continued to study, making impressions on superiors who pressured her to stand out. It’s also when she decided she wanted to leave. Everything reminded her of her mother, even years after her death. She had always thought that her mothers killer was an off-worlder as well.

𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐭

Malina did end up leaving, craving the adventure. It led to her being labeled as a pirate, which she didn’t think made much sense, but she went along with it. She often steals, but only from those who have too much anyway. She sticks to what she knows, which is technology, and of course, bombs. She hasn’t severely harmed or killed anyone, so not exactly the most evil pirate out there. Getting revenge is still on her mind, but she has drifted away from that over the years, growing more accustomed to traveling and meeting new people.

𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭

Still traveling, she eventually found herself on Terra, or Earth as they called it. It was a planet filled with people who labeled her as an alien instantly, despite them looking the same in appearance. She had only been told about the planet from stories, including times she’s met Yondu and even Peter Quill and his crew briefly. She plans to continue checking out Earth considering the amount of focus on it from others who are keen to attacking so-called “Avengers” and other heroes among them.
