Chat Noir redesign + Commentary

Officially the longest it took me to work on a drawing.

Anyways! I hope you guys enjoy these little commentary thingies? I am even surprised I manage to do these cause after planning my mood boards I tend to act brainless, so I am basically wording muscle memory and that’s so weird???? Idk. But it was a long process, so worth the effort.

It’s important to note that I technically started in Chat Noir’s sheet first, however, male anatomy is my personal torture chamber, so, it aways takes an extra effort. While Ladybug’s design and outfits came to me naturally, Chat Noir’s took a lot of re-do’s, specially in the full body stuff. These are times where I allow myself to trace, and I will even show one of the traced shots with the image underneath, cause it honestly doesn’t hurt? Everyone has their own process, and surprisingly, I don’t depend on tracing much— this was just a special case, because I wanted something very specific, and raw-dogging it wasn’t working out this time around, and that’s okay!

Just like last time, I actually started with the head render and little mannequin. Chat Noir’s suit design was WAY quicker to figure out, as I had like 3 options and then a 4th that mixed some elements of the others, lol. I am actually surprised Uni liked better the parachute pants design, but it grew on me soon as I got used to drawing it, and now I’m actually glad she chose it!

Chat Noir’s full body shot took two separate attempts. Initially, I traced the anatomy angle from a man, but decided it didn’t look good and I was better doing it on my own. After 3 separate attempts at recreating Félix’s model appeal for this drawing, I allowed myself to try tracing again. This is actually not a problem with the anatomy, but the clothes. I wanted the clothes to fall in a very specific way, and the way they did on my previous attempts weren’t really pleasant, so when I found the picture, I had to.

Things came together once the full body shots were done- EXCEPT NO- IT TOOK ME

Despite all of the struggle, I am EXTREMELY HAPPY this came out the way it did. The piece has over hundreds of layers, so it’s ASS trying to find my stuff, but I manage my way around.

Give me opinions on what you think of my designs, and maybe on fanart? I have been planning out some pieces but have been focused on this more. It’s been fun nonetheless.

I actually cannot reveal too much about his background because it’s meaningful for the rewrite later, so HAAAH, suck it, stay curious.

Just as it says in one of the pictures: Félix’s favorite necklace, which he always wears, is actually one gifted by Bridgette, who had made the necklace by hand for him.

He actually grows interest in customizing his wardrobe because of her, so let’s all say “Thank you Bridgette” in unison :sweat_smile:
