Hey there, Catbugs!!! It's a-me, Slyther!

As you may have seen yet, (and if no, hurry up and take a look!) there is a video game writing challenge taking place on this Amino!

Now, I'm a freako about video games, and when I saw it, I went... O///ᗜ///O

I just had to enter!!! And that's why today I'm bringing to you my first entry for this challenge, and the game I chose was....

Overwatch!

For this entry, I decided to make Marinette as Hana Song, or as most know, the pilot of D.VA!

I made some *minor* changes on Marinette's and Adrien's (yesh, he appears :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: ) personalities, so they would fit better in my story, and also decided to...

"Game Over!" Echoed the projected voice, filling the entire room. The whole place was dark and quiet. Nobody dared to make a sound, and the silence made her shiver. She was only 14, how did she even got there in the first place?

It was taking too long. Her breathing was faster than it should, and her heart was skipping beats. Her hands still clutched the controllers, the knuckles already white for holding them so tightly. How long would it take yet? The tension was too much.

"Cheeeeeng wins!"

Had she heard it right? Her shoulders were shaking as she finally let go of the controllers, finally able to breath properly. Her heart was still pounding weirdly, and she couldn't process the new information. She could only see the little holographic green letters in her screen, "Winner: Beolle", and even then she just couldn't believe her eyes. It was so unbelievable. How?

"Everyone, hands up for our neeeew winner! And the youngest by far, isn't it?" Continued the voice, cheering the crowd with little sparks of static. She turned over in her chair, facing the moving crowd. From the blinding darkness surrounding her, all she could discern was an unstable and chaotic wave moving itself up and down without a proper pattern. Was it really all real?

As the spotlights directed over her, Cheng could barely hear the crowd cheering her, her headphones still covering her ears. It was all so new - this was the first competition she had ever won. Numb, she stood up, slowly letting the realization hit her like a truck. The lights that blinded her, the confusing and anarchic crowd loudly applauding and chanting for her, the despair and frustration on her adversary's eyes… She smiled fiercely, confidence filling her expression as she struck a pose for her fans. She was home.

[5 years later]

"Marinette! Marinette! Miss Cheng! Do you have a minute?" That dude was following her around like a crow. But she was used to it. Over the street, some other guys had noticed who she was: Marinette Dupain-Cheng, the youngest Pro-Leaguer to ever achieve Top 5. She was basically a celebrity, and her fan base fiercely bared their teeth to protect her status as such. This guy, he probably was just another crazy fan.

She sighed, and put on her best smile before turning around to face him. "Of course! It's always a pleasure! But we gotta be quick, I have to hop in for Ultimate Korea Championship in 15 minutes, ok?" She smirked happily, with a small wink at the end.

The boy bit his lip, surprised by having his request attended. She turned her head a bit, waiting for his response. It was a common reaction for some of her fans to be startled by her attention, and actually a fairly expected one. After all, Marinette wasn't just a Top 5 Pro-Leaguer: she was also a socialite, a fashion enthusiast, and was deemed one of Korea's most beautiful women. She was simply perfect.

"I guess now you're supposed to ask me what you meant to ask, right?" she grinned, sporting her best model smile and moving her hands on to her hips. She knew this kind of attitude usually made the fans feel more threatened, but it was also good for her image. After all, she could see the small crowd on the other side of the street filming them right away. It should probably be by her page in less than 30 minutes.

"O-Oh, right." stuttered the boy, snapping out of his startled confusion. "I-I have an offer for you, uh, in the name of the uh, I, I actually can't say it, cause uh, you know, it's a big deal, a-and, it's actually confidential, a-and…" he added, averting his bright green eyes and running a hand through his blonde hair, the other nervously clutching a messager bag over his chest.

"Oh, is that so?" she said, still smiling. The male looked at her, trying to decipher the tone on her answer, but she was now looking away, lost in thoughts. "Yeah, I think this could be really great…" her pensative tone was accompanied by a gentle chin stroke with her index finger. Suddenly, she snapped out of it, and grinned once again, crossing her arms against her chest. "Well, guess I'll have to check it out! Why don't we talk more after this match? It's finals!" She said, turning around and beckoning him to follow as she skipped through the street.

"O-Okay!" He smiled back, nervously fidgeting with his bag's strap as he started to follow her. That smile of hers… it surely was a beautiful sight. And she was just so kind and nice! Now he understood why so many people swooned over her. It wasn't because of fame, or her looks. Well, most of it, at least.

"You know, you still haven't said your name." She commented, glancing over her shoulder.

"U-Uh, yeah, s-sorry! I'm… Adrien! Adrien Agreste…" he answered, blushing hardly. He had always been a fan of Marinette Cheng, mostly because of her awesome gaming performances, but he never expected to meet his idol, specially with his job. He was startled.

"Nice to meet you, Adrien!" she giggled, looking at him from over her shoulder again. That was the kind of reaction she liked to see.

[●●●]

She was awesome.

As soon as they entered the once old industrial building that now hosted the gaming tournaments, Marinette's assistants took her to a special confinement room before the match started. She had asked her manager to find a nice spot for Adrien to watch it ("Business, Alya!"), and now he was jammed up with her team in the monitoring rooms. They surely had a nice view, but he was more worried about having to speak up with the gamer after the campaign. For him, it was actually even worst than having to talk to his superiors, and that was something to say.

Now, she was fiercely playing in the darkened room, the only light source disponible for the crowd being the giant screen projecting the match for them. Beolle and her adversary couldn't see the screen of course - they only had their individual screens to see what was happening, encapsulated in spherical VR platforms. It was crazy to see it, and even crazier to watch small boxes on the big transmission sharing the faces of both players.

From the streaming, Adrien could see how focused Marinette was when playing, the left corner of her mouth tilted upwards reflecting the same movement on her eyebrows. Her pupils didn't ever lift from her screen, and her confident stare wouldn't shake at any advance from her opponent. Most of all, however, she was calm. Not a single sweat covered her face, and there wasn't any nervous wrinkle on her complexion.

On the other side, however, her adversary wasn't having that much of a good time. Her blue eyes were squinting furiously at the screen, her brows raised and her teeth bared at the most feral of expressions. She wasn't as controlled as Marinette, and each and every of her moves across the field was too bold and impulsive, and it was clear it was just a matter of time until the bluenette won the match. Even the narrator noticed this, and his snarky voice never ceased to comment, at one time or another, how Beol was seemingly losing her cool ~and her life points~ to Beolle.

The match had been running around for not even 20 minutes now. But then, Beol decided to risk it all - a daring ambush, that should allow her to finish her opponent without risking herself even more. If she managed to lure the opponent right to her front, using a small hand grenade to create the explosion she needed, she would have a clear sight of Beolle's back, and would be able to shoot her entire ammo before Cheng could even react or spot her on the high ground.

As she put her plan to work, very thing seemed to be working out. Beolle was walking right into her trap, and once she reached it, everything would be lost; it would be Beol's win for sure. As she waited for the adversary to walk right into the spot, a single tear of sweat fell on her eyelid. Instinctively, the contestant wiped the sweat from her face, adjusting her blonde bangs to let them out of her face. But that was her error. As she lifted her hand from the controller, a snippet of sound was made from here spot, and Marinette spotted her right away.

Before she could even say "shoot", Beol was already being shoot at open-fire, and couldn't do a single thing to defend herself.

As the screen went black, the narrator shouted on his megaphone, making his voice reverberate through the whole stadium, "Cheeeeng wins!!!! Bourgeois will go home, kids!!!". From the big screen, the audience could see Marinette's little smirk as she rejoiced herself on her chair, and Bourgeois's frustrated tantrum as she ripped the headphones from her head, throwing them on the ground and screaming at the top of her lungs.

Marinette hadn't even sweated.

As she entered the managing room, high-fiving everyone and still striking poses for her photographers and fans, she was smiling victorious and walking around like the celebrity she was. Adrien smiled fondly at the sight, considerably impressed by her performance.

She threw herself on a chair right next to him, sighing loudly through a smile and picking up a water bottle someone handed her. "So, what was it you wanted to talk to me about?"

He smiled too, opening his bag and getting a folder of official documents. "I'm here to talk to you" he said, handing her a paper full of robotic designs "about the MEKA project."

She looked at the projects, her jaw dropping in awe. "Game On".
