A little AU where instead of training to be heroes, the main characters train to be classic horror monsters and characters. Each monster has a leader called an Icon. For example, the Icon of vampires is Dracula. The Icon for sea monsters is Loch Ness. These are hereditary titles, however, and not one singular being. Content warning for mild blood and injury descriptions.

"Monoma," a voice greeted him from behind. "I've heard you're the newest Phantom of the Opera. I suppose congrats are in order."

The blonde turned from watching out the window to be greeted by an aged yet familiar face—a man with dual-colored hair, divided in half between red and white. An ugly scar covered his left eye, and there were unmistakable fangs peeking over his lower lip. "Shouto. A vampire, I see," he replied. "But considering your presence, not just any vampire."

"I was recently promoted to Count Dracula," Shouto confirmed. "From what my network has learned, almost all Icons have been replaced by our...peers. Almost everybody, save the king of the Icons himself. Any idea why he's summoned us all on the eve of Halloween?"

Monoma motioned around the empty room. A long table stretched its length, chairs lined up in perfect increments. "As you can see, we are the only ones here. I have yet to see the Monster yet."

"What have you been up to, Monoma?" Shouto asked, moving away to decide on where to sit. "I can't imagine that as Phantom, you have much to do. A bit more obscure, you know?"

They were the only two here, yet the hostilities had already begun. This is precisely why Monoma preferred keeping to himself. All other Icons were too aggressive and competitive, trying to prove their superiority as a monster. Granted, Shouto was right. The Phantom was a specific entity, unlike most other Icons, who were leaders of entire species or practices. Vampires, werewolves, sea monsters, ghosts, witches, mummies. The Phantom was too restricted.

Monoma never answered Shouto, deeming his dig too insignificant. Instead, his attention was grabbed as the door opened. In stepped another familiar face. Brown hair had grown longer than he ed. The bangs were approximately the same length but were now shorter than the rest of the hair. Her cheeks were still flushed pink, and she had the same joyful smile. "Shouto, Monoma! Long time no see! I can't believe how far we've come since school!"

Ochacko looked no different than any other woman her age. She bore no fangs or claws, gills or wrappings. Monoma studied her, trying to ascertain her role at the table. "Indeed," Shouto replied, dipping his head in respect to her. "We all knew you would eventually take the role of High Priestess. It suits you well." A cunning glance was sent toward Monoma as if to rub in he had more knowledge. Unlike Shouto, Monoma hadn't known Ochacko very well. They had been in different classes, after all.

"Ah, witchcraft," Monoma nodded, not sure how to contribute to the greetings. "Quite a chic style for a witch, I must say."

"Witches don't wear dark dresses and large-brimmed hats, Monoma," Ochacko pointed out. "Witches are just people, you know."

"Of course, it wasn't meant as a statement," Monoma quickly added. "I was just complimenting your fashion."

Over the next several minutes, the room filled with more Icons. Katsuki entered baring razor-sharp teeth, but everybody, even Monoma, knew he was the Alpha of the werewolves. Tsuyu entered the room with a trail of muddy water behind her, her frog traits being more amphibious. She bore gills and webbed fingers, her skin a greenish blue. Monoma could figure out she was Loch Ness. Hitoshi shuffled in wrapped in dirty bandages as the Mummy. Reiko appeared with rotting, grey skin, clearly a zombie. Lastly, Toru appeared in one of the two empty seats, only barely visible as the Poltergeist.

The room was full of ive-aggressive chatter as rivalries were silently born. Katsuki was all too eager to try and take charge, and many Icons blamed him for trying to replace the king. Monoma did his best to ignore all of them, keeping his eyes glued to the door until it finally opened. As it did, the room fell silent and everybody returned to their seats. In stepped a rotting corpse, the skin discolored and the ts barely connected.

All Might's signature smile wasn't intentional. Most of the skin had simply fallen off his face, revealing his skull beneath. The room shifted uncomfortably as everybody thought about how he needed to find a replacement. Frankenstein's Monster had never been a monster capable of staying together for long.

All Might slowly and silently makes his way to the only empty seat: the one at the head of the table. He reached over and grabbed some meat, and started eating without explanation. A few Icons also took some bites, waiting to hear what he had to say. It took a few minutes before he finally uttered some words. "I'm retiring as king."

"You don't have to gather us all and interrupt our life to announce you're finding a replacement, old man," Katsuki scoffed.

"That's not what I mean," All Might said, sending a glare his way. "I meant, the Monster will no longer be king. One of you guys will take that role."

"Is that why you didn't invite every Icon?" Ochacko asked. "Mina was a little upset she wasn't invited."

"I only invited significant Icons," All Might explained. "Everybody knows who you guys are. When people think of Halloween, they don't typically think of a Yeti or Cyclops."

"Well? Who's replacing you?" Katsuki asked, suddenly a lot more interested.

"That is for you all to decide," All Might said, looking around at them all. "I'll be in my room. Once everything has been decided, whoever will be the next king can find me there." With that, he stood and stumbled his way out of the room, leaving his plate full of meat.

As arguing immediately broke out at the table, Monoma just stared at the plate All Might left behind. All he could think of was Eris and the golden apple. All Might must know how this will end. Why was he trying to kill them all?

Monoma's gaze finally moved to examine the rest of the table just in time to see Katsuki launch himself across it at Toru, only to move through her. "Not cool, Bakugou," Ochacko huffed, pointing her wand that she now had out at him. His body froze up, unable to move. "Let's not resort to violence to resolve this."

"Is it not obvious?" Hitoshi spoke up. "That's the only way this can resolve. Collecting us here was All Might covering the room with gasoline, and he just lit the match."

"You want it to be a fight?" Ochacko asked, sufficiently distracted enough for her spell to lose hold of Katsuki. His reflexes caught him from falling, and his body twisted expertly to quickly launch himself at her instead. She screamed as he knocked her backward off her chair, already half-transformed into a wolf, and bit deep into her shoulder. "What the fuck?!" It only took a couple seconds before Katsuki was thrown off her by a magical force. She rose to her feet, blood soaking her shirt.

Monoma used this opportunity to quickly analyze everybody else at this table. He had no interest in being the king, and definitely wasn't willing to deal with this. From the quick glance he took, he could tell Hitoshi and Toru held similar sentiments. "You want this to be a fight? Fine, let's make it a fight!" Ochacko announced, rage filling her eyes as she raised her wand.

Monoma didn't stick around to see what she was casting. He darted from his chair, heading for the door. He made it without issue, but once he was out in the hallway, the walls behind him crumbled, making the whole building tremble. Ochacko's spell had destroyed the walls of the room, but from what he could tell, everybody was still present, save for Toru. The issue now was the fact the staircase to the ground floor was now past all the fighting monsters.

Katsuki and Ochacko were still fighting. Tsuyu had decided to face off Shouto, and Hitoshi was dealing with Reiko. All between Monoma and the exit. He froze for a second, unsure how he would navigate the danger. Unlike most other monsters, he had no power. "One thing at a time," he flinched as a voice spoke to him. It took a moment for him to realize Toru was still around, probably right next to him. "You're trying to get out, right? I have no idea why they want to be king so bad. I was about to dip when Ochacko's spell destroyed the room. Just focus on getting past one fight at a time, and you'll be fine. Best of luck."

With that, he was alone again. Okay, one at a time. First up was Shouto and Tsuyu. Typically, Shouto's bite would be enough to enthrall her, even if only temporarily. Tsuyu was a perfect match for him, for her skin was covered in a toxic substance. If Shouto were to bite her, he'd end up paralyzed himself. That left him with his super speed, and Tsuyu with her claws and water manipulation. She was already wielding the drinks from the meal as weapons.

He watched as the water shot around at speeds strong enough to deal some damage. Not much skin was opened, but Monoma could hear grunts of pain from Shouto as a large quantity collided with his stomach. He took the opportunity to dart past, but was tripped by Shouto's reflexes. He saw fangs descend toward his neck, and he had to quickly roll out of the way. The fangs were quickly replaced with webbed claws as Tsuyu took an attempt at an attack.

Her claws grazed Monoma's mask. He was thankful it had served a purpose, and regretful he hadn't brought his sword. He scrambled to his feet, ready to take on the both of them at once, but realized there was no need. Tsuyu's claws had grazed Shouto instead, and they were once again fighting with each other. He turned his attention to Ochacko and Katsuki, arguably the most dangerous fight.

Monoma didn't know anything about witchcraft. Each spell shot out of Ochacko's wand in rapid fire, each seemingly different from the last. They weren't homing, because Katsuki's reflexes and flexibility allowed him to dodge the majority of them and get some hits in. Any one of those spells could be lethal, and Katsuki's ability to survive them and be a solid adversary to Ochacko was proof of his danger.

Monoma's attempt was to press himself against a wall and try to shimmy past them without garnering attention. This, of course, didn't work. After a mere second, he felt a strong force slam into his shoulder, pinning it to the wall so hard, he could feel the stone crack. "Where do you think you're going, meat?" Katsuki demanded, blood dripping off his razor sharp teeth. His claws dug deeper and deeper into Monoma's shoulder, making him cry out in pain.

His hold on Monoma disappeared as he was drawn back toward Ochacko by a spell. Monoma looked over at his shoulder to see it clearly was no longer in it's socket, not to mention the blood spreading across his shirt. Before he knew it, Katsuki was back in front of him again. "I'm a little preoccupied at the moment," he said, this time grabbing Monoma by the neck and lifting him off the ground. "But I'll come back to deal with you in a moment."

With minimal effort, Katsuki slammed Monoma against the wall. He felt the pain in his spine, and his vision tripled. He reached up to try and pry his hands off, but his resistance was inconsequential. Katsuki had an animalistic strength only empowered by his primal rage. He felt his body slam against the wall again, before being slammed to the floor and left there. He stayed, paralyzed, staring at the ceiling, as his vision faded in and out. He was dazed by the multitude of colored lights from Ochacko's spells. He had no idea how long he was there. It might have been ten seconds, it might have been several minutes before he finally rolled onto his stomach to start dragging himself toward the exit once more.

Something wrapped around his wrist, and he could do nothing as he was dragged toward Hitoshi by his wrappings. Reiko was already entirely encased, struggling to break out. Monoma was dragged to his feet, and Hitoshi wrapped his arm under his to him. "You look a little rough," he commented. "You should have just stayed put and waited for me to get you out of here."

"Waited for you?" Monoma wheezed.

"Well, clearly neither of us want to be here," Hitoshi said, slowly guiding him to the exit. "You think I was just gonna ditch you? Toru had an easy escape, but you? You're just a guy."

"I can take care of myself," Monoma disagreed.

"And I'm sure that's why Katsuki nearly killed you without you fighting back at all," Hitoshi scoffed. They paused at the top of the staircase. "Well? Think you're ready to get out of here?"
