Suzie

Pet Updates-[IC]Hello everyone, today we are going to talk about tons of updates with my family pets. During the time I took

Suzie has been doing fairly well recently. We are trying to help her lose weight. So, we started doing portion control for the past couple months. She has been pretty happy lately, her new thing is everytime the entire family is at the dinner table. She taps every single one of us for attention.

Max

Pet Updates-[IC]Hello everyone, today we are going to talk about tons of updates with my family pets. During the time I took

Max has been doing well for the most part. During the winter months we have noticed that Max starts to lose hair on his ears, head, and rib cage area. You can see it in the photo above. My aunt ended up talking to the vet about it. The vet thinks that it is due to lack of sun, vitamin D3 deficiency. In addition to dry skin from furnace heat. They recommended supplements and a humidifier. So, we have been trying that out haven't noticed any changes yet. In the spring-summer months me and my aunt arranged to buy a E-collar for him so we can work on training him to walk on a leash without pulling. I plan on taking him on tons of walks once he gets the hang of things. She is unable to take him on walks due to medical issues. So im offering to help out with him. I have been doing tons of research on E-collars. She has used something like a E-collar before to prevent him from getting into a room and learn to not go in there. He does pretty good with them.

Mr. Green

Pet Updates-[IC]Hello everyone, today we are going to talk about tons of updates with my family pets. During the time I took

This is a photo of him being very angry. I haven't really talked much about my Aunt’s yellow-naped amazon. The past 10 years he has been pretty aggressive and fearful. We believe it has something to do with hormones. He has bite and tried to many times to my aunt. My aunt is working on trying to get him comfortable again by handfeeding him and taking him out of the cage more. However, if she turns her back not paying attention. He will start launching towards her on the table. I was able to convince her to change his diet. Since, he was on a seed/pellet only diet. I heard that bringing more fruits and veggies will help tons. If anyone has any tips for handling this let me know.

The Unfortunate News Of Stevie The Blue and Gold Macaw

Pet Updates-[IC]Hello everyone, today we are going to talk about tons of updates with my family pets. During the time I took

As most of you know we have been trying to get Stevie and Bailey the help that they deserve. They both have extreme plucking issues and my aunt obviously can't take care of them anymore. For months, almost a year now we had been applying for them to go to a bird rescue and rehab. Stevie and Bailey was on the waitlist but it was taking too long..almost a year since my aunt has applied. Unfortunately, due to the condition Stevie was in he ed away the beginning of December. May he rest in peace :v: :broken_heart: . Now I can only pray and hope that Bailey the other macaw will be able to receive help and they get in with us.

Poor Stevie, I hope Bailey will find a loving family someday but I can see why why many wouldn't want a Macaw, they're really big birds and need a lot of attention too, plus their maintenance is terrifying. I can certainly help with the handling issues though, these kind of birds are picky with owners and will choose one to love for. Your auntie would need to do these steps in order to try to tame it, I can't guarantee you that he'll befriend her but at least she tries.

Step 1: Before she does anything with handling, diet must come first. I've read that he was on a seed/pellet diet which is super unhealthy and needs to be changed immediately so that the bird will be happy with the food she puts into his enclosure, that's step ond, changing diet to achieve trust in food. She may still feed him the seed/pellet food but fruits and veggies such as Broccoli, Spicy and Bell peppers, Asparagus, Carrots, Cabbage, Lettuce, Peas, Spinach, Cucumber, Zucchini, Grapes, Apples, Bananas, Cantaloupe, Peaches, Plums, Apricots, Cherries, Watermelon, Blueberries, strawberries, Raspberries, cooked potatoes only, cooked beans only, ext. Please pm me if you want to know about toxic foods.

Step 2: Once on a more healthier diet, she may start getting him used to her being around. Do not touch him during this process, she may change water and food only but not touch or do anything with him. Wherever he's at, let your auntie roam the room doing normal stuff she normally does, try not to make any eye with him, let him get used to her being around the house first knowing she's harmless. This should take a week long, bonding takes time.

Step 3: The bird will then get settled and wont worry about your auntie being near, but this time, have her add his favorite treats inside the cage. She should know by now during that week of him settling. She may also hold out the treats from her hands but dont go after him, let him come to her when he feels comfortable.

Step 4: If he successfully took a treat out of her hand, she may then start showing her finger at him, beckoning him to sit on her finger or hand. Again do not chase after him, let him come to her, treats nay also work if you want to lure him. After he starts to feel comfortable on her hand she may continue to have him get settled on other parts of her such as her shoulder, head, legs, ext. Give him lots of toys as well he'll enjoy

Thank you so much for this helpful information  . The Amazon and the Macaw aren't really socialized well at all which definitely doesn't help the situation they only know my Aunt. She is going to get tons of veggies and fruits for them this week. I sent her the list. I was thinking of maybe making some DIY toys for them when I go over there this weekend.

My aunt just told me that he lunges at her and gets mad when she picks up her other birds. He's in a room with Bailey the macaw and one of my aunts African greys. They all have separate cages.
