Growing up, music was interwoven in every aspect of Sani's life, acting as a medium of preserving his culture, connecting his spirit to his loved ones, and pillaring his history. Music accompanied every major event of his life. Music was the norm, and without it, life would be unnatural.

Sani is aware of spiritual practices that the world thinks went out of date centuries ago, methods used for warding off unwanted spirits that have lived on in his community, hidden and unchanged. He has dealt with vampires before. He knows how to keep himself safe against the evil beings. The question is: Is he willing to share those sacred methods?

Sani prioritizes his safety. Although he cares for those around him and wants to preserve everyone's life, he wants to live on more than anything, and his safety is something he guards closely for that reason. He is not above walking away from dire situations even if it means abandoning another person. He knows when the person has the potential of being saved and when they don't.

At first glance, Sani seems like a cool individual of few words, focused only on his goals. He appears to have a melancholic and introspective demeanor. But despite his apparent solitude, he forges camaraderie quickly in precarious situations. Sani is not above treachery. However, he's also very responsible, always having a plan for everything, leaving nothing to chance. He's very strategic and intelligent. Despite his standoffish nature and often unremitting methods, he has a strong sense of purpose and an underlying code of honor. He's very perceptive. He is sensitive, philosophical, and gentle at times.

Sani is 6'0 with deep brown skin, long shining black hair down to his back, narrow eyes as black as pitch, and defined indigenous Mesoamerican features. He makes a point to dress nice when he has to be around many people, often found in suits and coats. He has the physique of a runner.

Raciel was fleetingly silenced by the girl's immediate interruption. He was briefly horrified at the thought of her knowing his name despite him never previously engaging in a proper conversation with her. He wondered if he sounded uneducated, or if he sounded arrogant for never formerly asking for her name, or if he seemed like he lacked common sense for never bothering to learn the minor details on his own in advance. Raciel hadn't been expecting to be an expert at conversation due to his absence of social skills, but he didn't think he'd be this bad. He knew he could come off as impersonal, but if he came off as rude and haughty, that would simply dishonor him and link him to his haughty makers.

After that night, she never introduced herself any other way on stage.

By day, he's a ranch hand and often hired muscle. Though his real work is in debt collection, smuggling, and as an enforcer. During the daytime, he works as a dependable ranch hand, fixing fences and wrangling livestock—a man with a strong back and a quiet mouth who drinks his coffee black. Folks say he minds his business and does good work, reliable work, but by night—or when the right name gets whispered through the wrong bar door, he's the one sent to deal with something needing to be done.

He's a mocking man who lets lies slip from his lips like a morning greeting. He always gets the job done, no matter how dirty it is—though he has his own code. No killing children... not without reason... the whole ordeal. And if you beg loud enough, he might just give you a heart start.

He's the go-between. If something needs to move and not be seen, he's the route. But yet... he still shows up each morning at sunrise, feeding horses, fixing what needs to be fixed, all while pretending he doesn't have blood soaked into his hands.

Outsider. She generally picks up odd jobs while travelling. Often it’s finding people with expensive targets on their heads, other times it’s less lawful. Whatever pays is wherever she goes. Jacqueline is aware of the corruption in the world and can’t be fucked trying to live clean if it means being stood on.

Relationship with music:

Ward enjoys music but she’s more likely to be the sort that sticks to the sidelines over getting entirely involved. The only times you’ll likely see her dancing—save for being roped in if you’re persistent enough—is if she’s had more than enough to drink. That being said, she always carried around a journal with her, and sees different music as distinct colours and visuals within her mind that she likes to scribe into paper. While synesthesia as a term had already been coined by 1932, it wasn’t something that Jacqueline had ever heard, nor was her experience with it something she ever spoke about.

Jacqueline Ward enlisted into the First World War in 1914 under the name Jack Ward. Because people around her knew her by such a nickname to begin with, it was much easier to run under the radar with cross checked records.

Motives & Desires:

Living well, and making sure the scum that don’t deserve it don’t. She’s by no means a Robin Hood allegory, but by god she loves making the rich poorer and the satisfaction of seeing it in the hands of labourers instead.

Personality:

Wit and sarcasm are the things that have taken Ward this far—or held her back depending on perspective. Such traits either put her in unsavoury positions or garner new friends. The former is more likely.
