Hey guys, today my facts are about Studio Ghibli:

1. Hayao Miyazaki and Walt Disney: Miyazaki has been called “the Walt Disney of Japan,” but he dislikes the comparison, believing that animation should be more than just commercial entertainment

2. Ghibli Films Have No Official “Villains”: Unlike most animated movies, Ghibli films avoid using typical villains. Even antagonistic characters, like Colonel Muska in Castle in the Sky, often have complex motivations.

3. Miyazaki’s Deep Connection to Totoro: Miyazaki once said that he wished he had a Totoro-like spirit as a child, as his mother was often ill when he was young.

4. Ghibli’s Respect for Its Audience: Miyazaki has stated that he never underestimates children’s intelligence, which is why Ghibli films don’t overly simplify their themes or dialogue.

5. The Catbus Is Inspired by Japanese Mythology: The Catbus in My Neighbor Totoro is believed to be based on the bakeneko, a mythical shape-shifting cat from Japanese folklore.
