Hey guys, I’m back with another post! Fun fact: I actually have had this draft for a few days but procrastinated and have forgotten to write it, so here you go.

So I was doing a confirmation event at my church with my sponsor Susan and her husband who are both Buddhist, and she talked about how, technically they aren’t really Buddhists because spirituality is a path and a constant goal and way of life that you try to achieve and work towards. And instead of saying they are Buddhist they say that they practice Buddhism or are practicing to become a Buddhist. I thought that was a very wise thought. I realized how much I could relate this to my own religion and practice. As I may have mentioned before, the Sufis were only the ones who had perfected their faith and spirituality to the highest degree, and was considered a very honorable title to be Muslims at the time. Though the sufis of that time were very different from the ones now. Sufism is a path to strive to attain excellence in faith and try to improve upon your character. There was usually a distinction between 2 groups. The first were the sufiya who had attained a certain level of ihsan, the others were called the mutasawifa who were the ones on the Sufi path and practicing to be a Sufi but have not attained it yet.

Alhamdulillah this is a reminder to me, that none of us are perfect and we should always strive to be our best selves. And Islam always pushes me to try and be a better person both in religion and in life.
