10 Things That make No Sense About Jacob and Bella’s Relationship

I found this article on screenrant.com and I couldn’t agree with it more. I want to share their 10 reasons countdown and tell you what I think about each one. If you want to read the article online I’m giving you a link below:

Opinions will be had on both Team Edward fans and Team Jacob fans, the line will definitely be drawn. However, I firmly believe that Bella and Edward were destined to be together and ultimately ended up that way. It was supposed to happen.

10. Why Bella Had a Thing For Jacob in the First Place

Totally weird on the weirdness scale at 10 out of 10. I think that Jacob was written into the story because Stephenie Meyer wanted to have a love triangle. They should have only been friends and nothing more but if she was going to write Edward leaving Bella then she had to include Jacob getting closer to her. It could have been Mike Newton or she could have written another male character into the mix but ultimately Meyer wanted to spice things up with a love conflict of interest.

9. Their Lack of Chemistry

I think that Bella and Jacob were closer to each other when Edward initially left but overall I think she was confused about their relationship. They should have just been friends but Jacob kept insisting that she had feelings for him when really they were never more than good friends.

8. How Controlling Jacob Was

Jacob became very controlling after Edward left Bella. She let Jacob in as a friend and he wanted more than that. Bella was confused and Jacob was angry when Edward returned. He tried to bully her into believing she loved him and not Edward......”it’s always been him”....meaning Edward.

7. The Fact That Jacob Was Going to Kill Renesmee

Jacob was furious when Edward changed how he felt towards Renesmee after he could hear her thoughts and he shared it with Bella. He didn’t want Bella to have the “monster” when he first found out she was pregnant and couldn’t understand why Carlisle couldn’t take care of it. Then believing that Bella was dead he decided to stalk and kill the baby who took away Bella’s life. He was carrying that out when he went to Rosalie and Renesmee but instead he imprinted. Can you imagine if he hadn’t imprinted? He would have killed Renesmee and then discovered Bella was still alive, a vampire and not a dead human who couldn’t be turned.

6. Jacob Claims He Can Give Bella a Normal Life, But That’s Not True

As a “human” Bella would die in the normal human age range whereas Jacob, as a shapeshifting wolf would stop aging and live much longer than Bella ever could. Living with any shapeshifting wolf meant that there was always a possibility Bella could be killed or disfigured by a phasing Jacob, or any kids they may have.

5. Bella Sees Jacob As a Kid Brother Half the Time

If Edward never left Bella then she never would have been confused by her friendship relationship with Jacob. She treated him like a younger brother in Twilight and it would have continued on that way if he hadn’t gotten closer to her when Edward left. I think Bella definitely had feelings for Jacob but they were never going to be more than friendship, which was proven when Jacob imprinted on Renesmee and their feelings for each other changed.

4. Why Jacob Thought He Could Kiss Bella Without Her Consent

This one really gets me because of the way Jacob treated Bella and overstepped the boundaries that normally exist. Bella didn’t feel the same about Jacob as he did with her, but that didn’t give him the right to attack her by forcefully kissing her without permission or even having a romantic moment. He physically forced himself on her and she was right to punch him. It is disturbing and Jacob was just acting like a complete jerk.

3. The Fact That Their Relationship Could Be Explained Away Because of Renesmee

This is another 10 on the weirdometer! It’s just another “ewe” when you think about it, really think about it happening with someone in real life. Granted real life isn’t full of imprinting and shapeshifting wolves and vampires running around, but seriously can you imagine having a friend fall romantically in love with your newborn baby? That’s just not right!

”The idea was that Jacob was so into Bella because she was carrying the egg that would eventually form into Renesmee. Yet, for some reason, he didn’t feel the same way toward Edward even though Edward provided the other half of Renesmee’s DNA.”

When I read this in the article I laughed hysterically for awhile. I never thought of this at all but it’s true!

2. Jacob Imprinted on Bella’s Daughter

Ewe! Only in Twilight could this happen, and otherwise it’s a huge “ewe!” I kind of already explained this one above, it’s just not an acceptable behavior in adults.

1. They Were Just Never In Love

I completely agree with this one! Bella never loved Jacob the way she did with Edward, her soulmate. Jacob only confused her because he thought or felt that he was in love with Bella. When he imprinted that had to change. I’m glad, from a Team Edward POV, but even if Jacob hadn’t imprinted on their daughter Bella and Edward belonged together.
