Mattel discontinued the Ever After High line in roughly 2017-2018. The franchise has been abandoned since then, with no indication of the franchise ever returning despite it's companion line, Monster High, getting rebooted.
That is until now, where a track named "Can't Get Me Down" was ed to the official Ever After High Apple Music and Spotify s. The release of the song has garnered the attention of many Ever After High fans, inspiring hope in some that the franchise will be rebooted or even get re-releases like Monster High and potentially My Scene, two of Mattel's other doll lines.
There has also been a lot of skepticism regarding the song and it's validity due to the fact that it was released completely unannounced, without any kind of promotion on the Ever After High, Mattel, or Mattel Creations social media pages.
The song itself is also questionable, as the singer's voice is noticeably warbly throughout the track and it's lyrics are absent of anything distantly Ever After High related. There are no references to fairytales, princesses, royals, rebels, or even Ever After High's lingo.
I did some sleuthing on Spotify and while no specific singer is listed nor a producer, it is credited as being written by Allison Bloom. Allison Bloom was a real writer for Ever After High and also co-wrote the original Ever After High theme song.

That being said, I did notice something suspicious while looking at the song's credit, which is that it's source is listed as just 'Ever After High' which does not line up with any other tracks ed to either Ever After High or Monster High's Spotify s. Both franchises have all of their song sources listed as 'Mattel - Arts Music'.
The album art for the track is also just a screenshot from the webisode "Rebel's Got Talent" which can easily be found online. It is unusual for the track to use a screenshot for it's art because Mattel makes custom album artwork for each track they release, for both Ever After High and Monster High. Even the G1 Monster High single "Witching Hour" has album artwork that is slightly more personalized than an episode screenshot.

At the moment, it still remains unclear about how official this track is and how or why it was ed. I recommend that fans not get too excited about an Ever After High return in the meantime, at least until Mattel makes an official statement. It is entirely possible the song could eventually be deleted from both platforms if it was a hoax.

Did a bit more looking and the song is also listed under a completely different copyright than other Mattel music properties. It is really looking like it was ed by an outsider.
Thank you for putting all the facts in one blog! I’m definitely one of the fans who got their hopes up when I first heard about this, but after actually listening to the song it’s clear that it’s not official. The album cover just being a screenshot from one of the early webisodes was the biggest indicator for me when you compare it to the other album covers on there like the Wonderland one from 2015 so I’m glad you included that part.
Yeah, if Mattel were to release any EAH song this late after the show ended, I would think it would be Live Your Dream from Epic Winter since it still isn't on Spotify, not a completely new one.
