Ladybug's jaw dropped as she put 2 and 2 together. Adrien was Cat Noir. ADRIEN WAS CAT NOIR! Her mind blanked out as her mouth was instinctively formed into an 'o' shape.
Adrien wouldn't meet her eyes. "So you finally figured it out huh?" He whispered. "Are you disappointed?" A paranoia that had wrecked his brain everyday since he had gotten another responsibility with his duties as Prince of Northern . It was difficult, but manageable. He just had to cut out the least important things that were unneeded in his lifetime to make room for his knight business. Prince by day, knight by night.
"No."
Adrien jerked his head to meet Ladybug's bluebell eyes. "What?"
Ladybug rolled her eyes. "Wow, you're really out of it today." She blew a lock of raven hair out of her pristine face. "I said no. I'm not disappointed."
"I heard that." Adrien sighed. "It just came off as a surprise is all."
"What?" Ladybug smirked teasingly. "That my trusted partner is actually the love of my life and I'm completely okay with it?" She smiled brilliantly. "No, I'm not okay with it...I'm ecstatic about it. This actually solves all my problems. Yes, I'm shocked that it was you of all people..."
"Hey!" Adrien protested. "What's not to like?"
Ladybug giggled. "But, I think we have bigger problems at hand than this. We can handled it later." She wouldn't it to her beloved in hopes that she would impress him with her bravery and calmness about their current situation, but she was anxious about what could happen. Will they get a trial or worse; be martyrs?
Before she could complete her jumbling thoughts, the dungeon metal cell bars creaked open; revealing two heavily chained armored soldiers with the Northern royal army crest; the lavender butterfly.
"Come." The first soldier said. "The court awaits you."
"The court?" Ladybug questioned as the two guards unlocked the rusty chain cuffs that held her and Adrien's hands to the mossy stone-brick wall.
"Yes, that is where you will have your trial for you and Adrien's punishment before being put back in this garbage where you both belong." The first guard sneered.
Ladybug snarled. How dare he address the prince by his first name so curtly! She didn't there being a dethroning! When she and Adrien get out of this dump, oh, these guards will wish they were never born because she will torture them to a crisp. No, she shouldn't think like that. She won't turn into him. It was the last thing she wanted.
"Wait," Ladybug stopped. "What would giving us a trial even be for if you are just going to put us back in jail again anyway?"
The guard sighed; slothfully he replied, "According to the official law books, the rules applied that the criminal or outlaw must be trailed before death. And because the citizens would think badly of King Felix if he were to execute a criminal without a proper trial."
Ladybug almost scoffed at the title. "King Felix?"
The soldier beamed. "Yes, our new ruler has been much more generous in his payments than that wretched King Gabriel," The grumpy man snorted. "That man was an embarrassment to us."
Now Ladybug saw what was going on. These men were being tricked and bribed into thinking that as long as their needs were satisfied; there was nothing wrong with the world. They were both blind and oblivious to the fact that Felix was really the one who committed a crime; not her and Adrien. Gods above, this will take a miracle to get out of.
