Here comes the bride (wedding fanfic)

I suck in a deep breath.

This is what I’ve waited for.

All these years he’s been right by my side and now finally…

“Are you ready Marinette?”

My dad asks, straightening his bow tie.

I can’t help but grin from ear to ear.

The entry area of the Parisian cathedral pretty dark, but in a few seconds the doors will open and we’ll process down the aisle.

I reach back to toy with the white and pink roses resting in my intricately woven hair.

“Marinette?” He asks, slipping is arm into mine.

“How do I look?” I whisper.

“You look like you’ve grown up.”

he whispers back.

“Oh, dad!” I giggle.

I look over my dress one more time to see if I need to make any last adjustments.

A lot of afternoons spent deg and sewing this dress with Alya’s background commentary fly back at me. The skirt has about ten layers, which cause it to balloon out just slightly. The top layer is thin tulle with embroidered flowers here and there.

Last but not least the shoulders are black lace with polka dots.

The heavy doors to the church creak open, and my heart starts to race.

Sunlight spills in as I lean past the bridesmaids and groomsmen all lined up in front of us, all our old friends from since high school.

“Marinette!” Hisses Alya, as I almost trip on my dress and fall over.

“Sorry!” I squeak, nervous smile spreading across my face.

“Just excited!”

“Of course you are girl! Just try not to trip on the way down the aisle” she teases with a toss of her curly hair.

The organ music starts, and Alya makes her way to the front, light pink dress trailing behind.

They all walk slowly and gracefully down the aisle, Rose, Juleka, Alix, and Myléne.

Then the groomsmen, Nino, Max, Ivan, and Kim.

Alya’s little sisters, sprinkle white and pink rose petals down the rug and take their seats, and suddenly it’s time.

I take a deep breath and step into the room.

The sunlight streams through the stain glass windows, making colored patterns all over the floor and a sweet fragrance fills the room from the hundreds of roses everywhere.

All eyes are on us, as we slowly make our way down the long carpet, stepping on rose petals on the way.

A blush slowly creeps up my neck as my eyes meet his for the thousandth time, bright sparkling green.

Suddenly, I feel just like I did in high school, knees wobbly, struggling to stand.

He’s grinning from ear to ear, his cheeks are actually pink from smiling so hard.

“Silly cat” I whisper, although I’m sure I’m blushing just as hard.

As we reach the end of the aisle, my dad kisses me on the cheek, and gives my hand to Adrien, then takes his seat next to my mom and grandmother.

The music halts, and I just stare at him.

“Are you real?” I mouth.

“What do you think, princess?” He whispers, with a grin.

The priest clears his throat, and begins reciting the vows.

I try to concentrate on the words, letting everything seep in.

I never want to forget this moment.

“I… I do” I stutter grinning, when he finishes my part.

I watch Adrien’s face closely as he listens for his part, he never stops smiling for a second.

“I do, my Bugaboo” he says softly, and I can’t help but giggle at the old nickname.

“I now pronounce you, husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.” says the priest.

Adrien softly grabs around my waist, and the tiniest breath escapes my lips.

I lean in quickly, startling him I think.

It isn’t the first kiss we’ve had, but it’s a special one.

As we pull away, everyone erupts into applause.

“How are you M’lady?” he whispers softly enough that no one can hear.

“Perfect Chatton” I say poking his tie where his bell usually is.

“Absolutely perfect.”
