Marinette and Alya hustled to get to their good friend Nino's house. They didn't want to be caught since they were both normal subjects and not nobles. Alya scanned the area for any unwanted stalkers and followers; when she gave the signal the coast was clear. Marinette knocked on the door.
Nino's mansion was a magnificent build made up of the finest sandstone and marble giving it that glistening shine whenever it hit the sun's rays. Rows of flowers lined the stone pathway leading up to an fountain with statues of Cupid trying to shoot the hearts of many fair maidens.
The door silently opened as Nino's head peeked through.
"Where's Adrien?" Nino asked.
"We'll tell you inside. It's not safe out here." Alya whispered. Nino nodded his understanding and opened the door wider for Marinette and Alya to come through. With a last glance, he quietly shut the door.
Monsieur Laffife, Nino's father, was there to greet them. He strongly believe that every citizen was just as equal to another citizen. He didn't believe that class, nobility, gender, or race defined a person, but rather by who they chose to be instead. This was why Monsieur Laffife didn't mind Nino being friends with the common people of Northern or the prince.
"Marinette. Alya. So good to see you both again. How are you both?" Monsieur Laffife was a kind and caring man with a brown, fluffy beard and a gentle smile.
"Thank for asking sir. My family and I are doing quite well." Marinette said. Alya smiled to let him know that she was doing fine as well.
"Now where is Adrien?" Out of all of them, Nino was the closest to Adrien.
" I was waiting for him at our usual spot at his mother's favorite rose garden, but he never showed up." Marinette explained.
"Weird." Alya muttered. Adrien was so known for his punctual timing and was usually never late to anything.
Monsieur Laffife broke the tethering tension." I am sure the prince is fine. He is probably was quite busy with his duties as prince and couldn't make it. Um, Nino? Why don't you take your friends to your room and you can talk more there?" His father suggested.
Nino sighed. " Alright. Come on guys." He gestured for them to follow him.
As they were walking up the spiraling stairs up to Nino's chambers, Marinette couldn't contain the delightful gasps that came with each time she saw another beautiful statue or part of the mansion. Even though, Marinette has been to Nino's home countless times before; she was still awestruck to how the wealthy spent their lives in such a splendid place.
When they arrived, Marinette noticed that Alya was secretly staring at Nino. Marinette smirked. As long as she can , Alya had a huge crush on Nino ever since he thought he had a crush on Marinette and had taken her out to one of 's most luxurious zoos. However, Marinette made him realize who he really had a crush on. They were both too stubborn to it it though. Marinette could see why Alya liked him. He was a handsome man with cocoa skin, coffee bean colored eyes that were covered by his glasses, and dark smooth hair. He was also an amazing and awesome person who would always stand by his friends no matter what.
Marinette wondered how they weren't together yet since they were both made for each other. She also wondered how Alya was able to talk to Nino normally and control her stomach butterflies whenever she was around him unlike Marinette.
"Sorry, I'm being a little huffy with you guys today. I'm just worried about Adrien. Where is that boy anyway?" Nino gave an apologetic smile.
Marinette was about to respond when a new voice spoke first.
"Someone made a cat call?"
